Sáile - the Irish word for saltwater or sea-water - is a commuity-led festival that celebrates Galway's deep connection with the Atlantic Ocean.
From 11–13 September 2026, Sáile will transform the Rowing Club and the University of Galway into a vibrant hub of ocean literacy, bringing together scientists, artists, educators, storytellers, and communities in a shared celebration of our marine heritage and future.
At a time when our coastlines face unprecedented environmental challenges, Sáile aims to turn awareness into action. Through expert-led discussions, film screenings, hands-on workshops, local arts, and intergenerational activities, we are creating a space where everyone can connect with the ocean and become active stewards of our shared blue spaces.
Sáile is being built by the community, for the community. We believe that ocean conservation should be accessible, inclusive, and deeply rooted in culture and creativity.
Your donation will help us cover essential festival costs, including:
- Logo and branding design.
- Venue hire at the Galway Rowing Club and the University of Galway.
- Tables and chairs for the sustainable food court and community art gallery.
- Commissioning an artist to create an original lino print for the festival.
- Producing a stock of eco-friendly festival T-shirts.
- Providing refreshments and food vouchers for participating artists, speakers, volunteers, and workshop leaders.
Sáile is built on collaboration, creativity, and a shared commitment to caring for our coast. By donating, you are helping us create an inclusive and inspiring event that celebrates Galway's marine heritage and fosters long-term ocean stewardship.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means a great deal to us, and we hope to welcome you to Sáile in September 2026!
Go raibh míle maith agat.
