Step into the Wild Atlantic Sea Science Gallery at Galway City Museum and join marine biologist Léa Delhaise for an interactive exploration of Galway Bay's beautiful marine life.

Discover the incredible species that inhabit our coastline, learn about the mysterious mermaid's purses that regularly wash ashore, and uncover the rich biodiversity that can be found along Galway's beaches. Through games, specimens, and creative activities, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that calls our Atlantic waters home!

This a perfect activity for curious minds of all ages.

Heritage Trail

Embark on your own self-guided journey along the Corrib waterways with the help of our Corrib Walking Trail. You will learn about the myths, legends and folktales associated with the Corrib (lake and river) and with Galway Bay, into which it flows. This map will bring you face to face with the real-life site of each fantastical story. The Corrib holds huge value, environmentally and historically but also as a fascinating source of folklore that has influenced Galway communities for generations. So, take a step outside and let’s keep the lore alive!

Galway Aquarium Shore Walk

Citizen Science on the shore with Galway Atlantaquaria.

Join the team from Galway Atlantaquaria to explore some of the unique citizen science initiatives and platforms you can get involved in on the seashore. The team will provide examples of programmes such as Explore Your Shore, Coastwatch, Fossil Watch plus many more. A sample survey will be carried out to help get you started and information shared on how you can get more involved.

Meet at Grattan Beach, in Salthill at 11am on the 12th September near the information sign.

Under 18's most be accompanied by an adult, and waterproof footwear, a rain coat and woolly hat are recommended.
